Cannabis Safety · Missouri Consumer Education
State-mandated consumer educationPlain-English safety information every Missouri cannabis consumer should read. Impairment, driving, pregnancy and nursing, secondhand smoke, secure storage, and where to get help. Published in accordance with Missouri regulation 19 CSR 100-1.180(2)(H).
Responsible use
This content is published by Luxury Leaf under Missouri regulation 19 CSR 100-1.180(2)(H), which requires every licensed dispensary to inform consumers about cannabis impairment, driving, pregnancy and nursing, and secondhand smoke. We added storage and help resources because they matter too.
Topic 01
THC is an intoxicating substance. It affects every person differently based on tolerance, dose, format, body chemistry, and what you have eaten. Impairment can last hours after the high fades — especially with edibles. Plan your day around that.
Topic 02
Missouri law treats driving under the influence of cannabis the same as driving drunk. It is a DWI. There is no legal limit that makes driving after cannabis safe. If you consumed, arrange a ride, use a rideshare, or stay put.
Topic 03
Missouri regulation and federal health agencies (CDC, FDA, ACOG) advise against any cannabis use during pregnancy or while nursing. THC and CBD cross the placenta and enter breast milk. Potential risks include low birth weight, developmental delays, and effects on the infant's brain development.
Topic 04
Cannabis smoke contains many of the same combustion byproducts as tobacco smoke. Exposing a child, a pregnant person, a non-consenting adult, or a pet to secondhand cannabis smoke can cause harm and, in some circumstances, is illegal in Missouri.
Topic 05
Edibles and infused beverages are the most common cause of accidental pediatric and pet exposure. Missouri packaging is child-resistant, but that is a backup — not a substitute for secure storage. Treat cannabis the way you would treat prescription medication.
Topic 06
Cannabis overconsumption can be uncomfortable but is almost never dangerous on its own. If you or someone else has consumed too much, find a calm space, hydrate, and wait it out. If there is any concern about a child, a pet, or a combination with other substances, call for help immediately.

Safety questions
Overconsumption, accidental exposure, driving, pregnancy, and storage — the practical answers Missouri consumers ask most.
Find a calm space, hydrate, and wait. Cannabis overconsumption is uncomfortable but almost always self-resolves. A small dose of CBD, a cool shower, a walk, and time are what settle it. Do not drive.
If symptoms are severe — loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing, chest pain — call 911.
Call the Missouri Poison Center immediately at 1-800-222-1222. They operate 24/7, it is free, and they will tell you exactly what to do. If the child or pet is unresponsive or having difficulty breathing, call 911 first.
No. Driving under the influence of cannabis is a DWI in Missouri, same as driving drunk. There is no legal 'safe' amount. If you consumed, do not drive — use a rideshare, ask a friend, or order delivery next time.
Missouri regulation and federal health agencies advise against any cannabis use during pregnancy or while nursing. THC and CBD both cross the placenta and enter breast milk. For medical guidance, speak with your obstetrician or pediatrician.
Keep cannabis in its original child-resistant packaging, out of sight and reach of children and pets. In homes with children, store it in a locked box, locked drawer, or high cabinet. Treat it the way you would treat prescription medication.
