The holiday emerged around 2011, when cannabis forums noticed that 710 flipped upside down reads like the word OIL, and oil is slang for concentrates. The date stuck, dab-focused brands started timing releases to it, and by 2015 dispensaries were running concentrate-specific features. Today 7/10 is the calendar's second cannabis holiday after 4/20.
