01
Before you go
Think about what you want to accomplish — better sleep, less pain, more relaxation, social ease, creative focus. The clearer your goal, the better the budtender can help. Check the dispensary's online menu if you want to plan ahead. Most have Dutchie menus that update in real time.
02
At the door
You'll show ID at a check-in desk. The staff verifies you're 21+ (or your medical card), enters you in the system, and lets you into the main floor. Missouri law requires this every visit — no exceptions. Having your ID ready speeds things up.
03
Working with the budtender
Tell them what you're looking for in plain terms. 'Something for sleep,' 'something low-dose,' 'something for a party,' 'something with real flavor' — all perfectly normal. A good budtender will ask follow-up questions about experience level, tolerance, and current use. Trust them but also don't be afraid to push back.
04
Understanding the products
Flower is the classic — raw cannabis to smoke or vape. Pre-rolls are pre-rolled joints. Edibles are THC-infused food or gummies. Vapes are cartridges or disposables. Concentrates are extracted THC (rosin, live resin, badder). Topicals are applied to skin for localized care. Start simple — flower, pre-rolls, or a low-dose gummy (5 mg or less).
05
What to expect price-wise
Flower eighths (3.5g) typically run $30 to $60 depending on tier. Pre-rolls $10 to $20 each. Low-dose gummy packs $15 to $30. Vape cartridges $35 to $60. Deals and loyalty programs almost always apply — ask what's running that day. First-time customer deals are common at most Missouri shops.
06
What not to do
Don't mention selling or trading — that's a sales-area violation. Don't ask to touch product you haven't bought. Don't assume every strain labeled 'sativa' is energizing. Don't chase THC percentage alone. And don't start with a high-dose edible if you're new — 2 to 5 mg is plenty for a first try.
