01
What indica actually means
Historically, indica plants came from Central and South Asia. Short, bushy, wide leaves. Classic indica effects are body-heavy relaxation, softening of physical tension, and drowsiness. Popular indica strains include Northern Lights, Granddaddy Purple, and Purple Punch. Typically chosen for evening and night-time use.
02
What sativa actually means
Historically, sativa plants came from equatorial regions. Tall, narrow leaves, longer flowering times. Classic sativa effects are mental lift, energy, and creative focus. Popular sativa strains include Sour Diesel, Jack Herer, and Green Crack. Typically chosen for daytime use and creative sessions.
03
What hybrid actually means
Hybrids are crossed strains combining indica and sativa genetics. Most modern strains are hybrids at this point. Effects depend entirely on which parents dominate and what percentage each contributes. Runtz, Gelato, and Wedding Cake are popular hybrids with very different effect profiles.

Why terpenes matter more than the category label
Modern cannabis science shows that terpenes (the aromatic compounds in cannabis) drive much of the perceived effect alongside THC. Myrcene-dominant strains lean relaxing regardless of indica/sativa label. Limonene-dominant strains lean uplifting. Caryophyllene is associated with body-calm sensations. Always check the terp profile, not just the category.
